Reducer Installation, Use and Maintenance Manual
Ⅰ Preparations before installation
1. Inspection and confirmation:
(1)Confirm whether the model, specification and reduction ratio of the received reducer are the same as your requirements.
(2)Check whether the reducer has been bumped or damaged during transportation, especially the input shaft, output shaft.
2. Lubrication Preparation
(1)This reducer leaves the factory without any lubricating oil inside. Before use, lubricating oil must be added as required. The grade of lubricating oil is EP150# mechanical oil, and the grade of grease is 0# or 00 #. Lubricating oil can be replaced by 40-50# mechanical oil. The specific selection should be based on the ambient air temperature.
(3)Horizontally installed reducers usually have oil gauges or oil sight glasses. Check whether the oil level is within the specified mark (usually near the center line). Low oil level will lead to insufficient lubrication, while high oil level will cause temperature rise and oil leakage.
Ⅱ Installation Steps
1. Install sprockets, pulleys, gears or couplings, etc. at the shaft end. It is recommended to use the hot mounting (heating the workpiece) method to avoid violent knocking.
2. Hammering is strictly prohibited: It is absolutely forbidden to strike the reducer shaft directly with a hammer!
3. The installation of the base must have sufficient rigidity and stability. The anchor bolts should be evenly tightened to prevent vibration, noise and damage to bearings and gears caused by unreliable foundations, which may disrupt the accuracy of the working machine, power machine and reducer being on the same centerline.
4. During installation, the transmission center axes of the reducer, the power machine and the working machine must be on the same centerline. The error should not exceed the allowable compensation range of the coupling used. When using non-flexible couplings, improper installation can generate additional external loads, leading to premature damage of the bearings or even breakage of the output shaft.
5. Use a level to adjust and ensure that the reducer is in a horizontal position (unless designed for vertical installation).
6. Ensure that the transmission center axes of the reducer, the power machine and the working machine are strictly on the same centerline, parallel and concentric to reduce vibration and additional radial force.
Ⅲ Operation and Debugging
1. No-load trial run
(1)After all installations are completed, it is essential to conduct a no-load test run first.
(2)Run for 30 minutes to 1 hour to ensure smooth operation. Check for any abnormal vibration or noise, oil leakage at the input/output shaft ends, and whether the temperature rise is normal. If any abnormality is detected, stop the machine immediately for inspection.
2. Load operation
(1)Only after the no-load test run is normal can it be operated under load.
(2)Gradual loading: Start with a light load and gradually increase to the rated load to avoid sudden heavy load impacts.
(3)Monitor the operating status: During the first few dozen hours of operation, closely monitor the changes in noise, vibration and temperature rise.
Ⅳ Daily Maintenance and Care
1. Regularly check the oil level: Check the oil level once a month or every 500 hours of operation to ensure it is within the specified range.
2. Regularly change the lubricating oil
(1)First oil change: The first oil change should be carried out 36 hours after the first operation to remove the metal shavings produced during the running-in period.
(2)Subsequent oil change: After that, depending on the working environment and load conditions, the lubricating oil can be replaced every 2,000 to 5,000 hours of operation or every 6 to 12 months. In harsh environments (such as high temperatures, much dust, and continuous heavy loads), the oil change cycle should be shortened.
(3)Oil change method: When the reducer is still warm (the lubricating oil has good fluidity), drain the old oil and add new oil to the specified oil level.
3. Keep clean and ensure the vent cap is unobstructed: Regularly clean the oil stains and dust on the surface of the reducer, and inspect and clean the vent cap to prevent blockage.
4. Fastening inspection: Regularly check whether all installation bolts and connecting parts are loose.
5. Abnormal situation handling: Once a sudden increase in noise, intensified vibration, abnormal temperature rise or severe oil leakage is detected, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection. Operation can only resume after the fault has been eliminated.
Ⅴ Common mistakes and precautions
Error 1: Brute force installation. Striking with a hammer is the main cause of damage to the reducer.
Error 2: The shafts of the working machine, the power machine and the reducer are not on the same centerline. This causes the bearings and cycloidal discs to bear additional stress, resulting in a sharp reduction in their lifespan.
Error 3: Using the wrong lubricating oil or mixing different types of oil.
Error Four: Ignoring the vent cap. This leads to an increase in internal pressure and oil leakage from the input shaft oil seal.
Error 5: Overloading or impact load. It will directly lead to tooth profile fracture or bearing damage.
Error 6: Using ordinary models in corrosive, high-temperature or flammable and explosive environments. Special treatment (such as surface anti-corrosion) or specific design models should be selected.
